Declutter Your Life with my Use It – Need It – Love It Signature Decluttering Method

Hey, its Leigh Ann here. From bustyourbusybadge.com. And I wanted to share my super simple and effective decluttering techniques that takes emotion out of decluttering and gets you results fast. It’s called the use it, need it, love it decluttering method.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m passionate about having a living space that feels really good. And exudes lots of nourishing energy. You know when you’ve achieved this, because not only do you feel good, but so does everyone that comes to visit. In fact, visitors who come to my house often don’t want to leave. And they just can’t quite put their finger on why.

So, clutter is simply just too much stuff. Or the way I like to think of it is, its stuck energy. So when we have too much stuff, energy can’t flow freely. And then we wonder why we’re feeling stuck and overwhelmed. There definitely is a connection.

Over the years, I’ve tried many, many decluttering techniques. And I finally got my own signature method that is simple, fast, makes sense and that works. So I wanted to go through that simple method with you today. Are you ready?

Okay, let’s do it.

So, simply ask the three questions, use it, need it, love it. If I answer yes to any of the questions as we go through it, and I’m going to show you examples. I’m going to keep the item, I move to another item and start all over again. It will make more sense in a moment.

Let’s start with an example. Here’s my handy, dandy, stapler. And I’m going to ask the first question. Do I use it? It’s either yes or no. if it’s a yes, I’m going to keep it. And I’m going to ask an additional question. I’m going to ask, do I have more than one? And if I do, I’m going to contemplate getting rid of the excess. So I do use this. Which means I keep it. And now I’m on to the next item.

So we’ll start all over. I got my handy dandy taxes here. Well, they aren’t quite handy, dandy. But I have my taxes. And the first question is do I use it. The answer is no, I don’t use it. So now I go to the next question, which is do I need it? Yes, I do need it. To be a good citizen and to file my tax return, I need to have these papers. So that means, I stop and I keep it. I put that over to the side.

Now, we are going to start all over again with the next item. This is a family heirloom that my mom gave me. So I’m going to ask, do I use it? The answer is no, I don’t. It’s a vase. The next thing is, do I need it? Well, I don’t really need it. So the answer is no. so now I’m going to go onto the third question, do I love it? I want to tell you both if I love it and if I don’t love it, what the method is.

If I don’t love this and I say no, I don’t love it, you have one of three choices. I can either sell it, I can donate it or give it away. Or I can throw it out. But I happen to love this. So guess what? I’m going to keep it. But the only stipulation is, if I keep it, it has to be displayed. It can’t be sitting down in the basement in some box collecting dust. So got it? Use it? Need it? Love it? That’s the method for you to go and start decluttering your life.

I’m Leigh Ann Betts. Thanks for joining me. Until then, be abundant.
